I'm at NAIST from April 2017.
I had been a researcher at NTT Communication Science Laboratories from April 2002 to March 2017.
I received the following degrees from Kyoto University: Bachelor of Engineering (2000), Master of Informatics (2002), and Ph. D. (2015)
I'm interested in natural language processing, especially in machine translation and spoken language.

I'm an enthusiast for cameras and fountain pens :-)

Recent Updates:

  • IWSLT 2017 Dialogues task dataset is now publicly available. There were no submissions for the workshop, but the further investigation is highly appreciated!
  • Our article "Syntactic Matching Methods in Pivot Translation" has been accepted for publication by Journal of Natural Language Processing (Vol. 25 No.5, Dec. 2018). It'll be available online in March 2019.
  • Our article "A Simple Syntax-based Preordering Method for Statistical Machine Translation" has been accepted for publication by Journal of Information Processing (Vol. 60, No. 3, Mar. 2019). This is joint work with Sho Hoshino (NII, head author), Yusuke Miyao (Univ. of Tokyo / NII), Katsuhiko Hayashi (Osaka Univ.), and Masaaki Nagata (NTT), in collaborative research between NII and NTT.
  • My research proposal to JST PRESTO has been accepted. I'll pursue a novel evaluation framework for language generation and machine translation.
  • Our master course student Yuta Nishimura received the IWSLT 2018 Best Student Paper Award for the paper "Multi-Source Neural Machine Translation with Data Augmentation"!
